Sweet Sunset Family Portrait Session at Surrender Field | Yorktown, VA Family Photographer

I was recently hired by a great publishing company to photograph pets and families for feature articles in their publications, which highlight residents of various neighborhoods in the Hampton Roads area.  This session was one of my first for N2Publishing, and I so enjoyed capturing this adorable family.  I love that N2Publishing works with local professionals to create beautiful and informative neighborhood magazines that help residents connect with each other, and with local businesses.

My favorite part of this portrait session is that it truly shows the connections between not just one generation of siblings, but two!  Matt's brother, Michael, recently moved in with the family and is clearly beloved by everyone.  I love that we were able to capture the sweet relationship Matt and Michael have, and also the relationship Michael has with his niece and nephew.

I also love how the outfits that Michelle chose for the family photographed together!  I referred her to my Style Guide and she did a great job incorporating my suggestions to create a cohesive but not overly-matched look for her family.  If you are planning a photography session of your own, head over to check out my Style Guide for some helpful tips on choosing clothing that photographs well.

Bollywood Glamour Wedding Celebration at Elegant Affairs in Norfolk, VA

Laurel and Ashraf were wed in an intimate destination wedding earlier this year, but decided to share in their celebration with family and friends during a fabulous wedding celebration back where Ashraf grew up, here in Hampton Roads.  Imagine all of the fun of a wedding with none of the stress from the ceremonial elements, and that's exactly what this fun event at Elegant Affairs in Norfolk, VA was all about.

Growing up in a tight-knit community of Indian families, this wedding party was truly a reflection of Ashraf's heritage with many guests clad in vibrant saris and bandhgalas and a seemingly endless array of Indian dishes scenting the air with delicious aromas.  Guests sipped tall glasses of cool mango lassi and later enjoyed slices of a spectacular mad hatter themed cake (a nod to Laurel's love of Alice in Wonderland).

Laurel and Ashraf - thank you so much for having me join you for your special day.  You guys were such a joy to work with and I wish you years of love and happiness!
